School Innovation and Improvement Plan At-a-Glance
Language Arts Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in English Language Arts. |
Goal: 100% of English Language Learners and special education students will score at or above the 40th percentile on the iReady, or achieve Pass or Pass Advanced status on SOL, or 100% will meet the benchmark on PALS in the spring of 2023. |
Strategy 1: Increase time dedicated to foundational skills instruction and practice (print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, word recognition, and fluency) in the core language arts block. |
Strategy 2: Provide Tier 2 instruction as a preventative intervention that targets the underlying difficulty impacting the student’s progress in literacy. |
Strategy 3: Explicitly teach high-level language skills (inferencing, comprehension monitoring, and awareness of text structure) via interactive read-alouds of complex texts. |
Mathematics Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in Mathematics. |
Goal: 100% percent of English Language Learners and special education students will score at or above the 40th percentile on the iReady, or achieve Pass or Pass Advanced status on the SOL, or 100% will meet the benchmark on EMAS in the spring of 2023 |
Strategy 1: In the core math block, we will increase time dedicated to looking at correct answers toward looking for students’ thinking. |
Strategy 2: Schools plan and host a family math night where example math tasks and games are shared and student learning goals illuminated. |
Strategy 3: Teachers monitor student progress related to the specific strategies or representations. |
Wellness Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment. |
Goal: By the end of 2022-2023 our school will use the four components of a morning meeting with fidelity to effectively build relationships and create a sense of belonging through relationships, increasing school-wide scores of belonging on the SEL screener by at least 10%. |
Strategy 1: Build the fidelity of morning meetings in all grades |
Strategy 2: Building relationships through classroom communities |
Strategy 3: Students will begin to engage in the use of the Positivity Project to create a positive school culture. |
Portrait of a Graduate (POG) |
Outcome: All students will complete a POG Presentation of Learning (POL) by 2025-26. |
Goal: 100% of students will demonstrate an increased understanding of POG (Portrait of a Graduate) attributes of communication (and collaboration) as reported on a POG self-reflection rubric. |
Strategy 1: When planning a unit, teams will utilize 1 POG skill (communication) to incorporate with project-based learning activities. |
Strategy 2: The Portrait of a Graduate attribute of collaboration will be introduced to students. |
Strategy 3: 5th-grade STEAM students will complete a POG POL in which they reflect on the growth of communication and collaboration at the end of each quarter. |
