Library Information
Welcome to the Ravensworth Library!
The Ravensworth Library is a warm and welcoming place for students, teachers, and parents. The goal of the library program is to develop and encourage a love of reading for all students, and assist them in becoming critical thinkers who are effective and responsible users of information.
Students visit the library weekly during their checkout time. They may also visit the library, with teacher permission, during the following drop-in times:
- Mondays 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
- Thursdays 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
- Fridays 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
We encourage students to treat their library books with care. Please keep the books away from dirt, water, food, drinks, and pets. We understand that accidents happen. Should the library book become lost or damaged, parents may pay for the book, or purchase a replacement for the library. You can now use My School Bucks to pay for a book (see instructions below)
- Go to www.fcps.edu page and click on My School Bucks near the top
- Click on School Store
- Click on Browse All Items
- Click on Lost and Damaged Library Books
- Click on [(your child’s grade), 143]
- Add the amount you need to pay and Add to Basket
- Click on View Cart/Checkout and complete your transaction
Your payment will be received by the school when you are done. Thank you.
Library books may be borrowed for three weeks. Periodically, overdue notices will be sent home in Wednesday folders to remind students and parents to return overdue books or pay to replace lost books. Your child may also login to their library account, using their normal computer login credentials, to view their checkouts and the dates they’re due.
In accordance with the regulations of Fairfax County Public Schools, the library does not censor student reading choices. We strongly encourage parents or guardians to review the books their children are selecting to read, and make their own decisions about what they consider appropriate.
