Ms. Trumbull Honored for STEM Excellence
Congratulations to Ms. Andrea Trumbull for being recognized by the Air Force for her dedication to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. She has played a pivotal role at Ravensworth Elementary in integrating STEM concepts into the classroom through the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) STEM Team's ACCESS Lending Library Program.
Ms. Trumbull, an Advanced Academics resource teacher, introduced Edison Robots to nearly 600 students, sparking curiosity and engagement across grade levels. Her classroom thrives on exploration, where students are encouraged to "make a mess to make meaning." With nearly two decades of experience, Trumbull continues to adapt her teaching methods to meet the evolving needs of her students, emphasizing the importance of blending technology with other subjects to foster deeper learning.
The Advancing Collaborative Curriculum Engagement for STEM Stakeholders (ACCESS) Lending Library Program, launched in 2024, has reached more than 1,600 students across the National Capital Region and West Virginia. By providing free access to cutting-edge technology and professional development, the program empowers educators to bring STEM to life in their classrooms. Its success has set the stage for a 2025 expansion, introducing a “train the trainer” program to extend its impact even further.
