ATTENDANCE

Early—8:15 a.m.

At 8:15 a.m., the doors to the school will open to students. Ravensworth ES staff will supervise students starting at 8:15 a.m. in the cafeteria. To keep our students safe, they may not arrive at school prior to this time.

On Time—8:25 a.m.

The first bell rings at 8:25 a.m. Students may enter their classrooms at this time.

Tardy—8:35 a.m.

All students should be seated in their classrooms by the second bell at 8:35 a.m.

If your child is going to be absent or late, contact the school office before 7:45 a.m. on the day of the absence by phone at (703) 426-3636. The attendance line is available 24 hours a day for your message. If the parent/guardian does not notify the school of the child’s illness, the absence will be unexcused.

Excused Absence and Tardy—

Illness of the student, death in the family, doctor or dentist appointment, extreme inclement weather, and observance of a religious holiday.

Unexcused Absence and Tardy—

Family trip, childcare situation, oversleeping, non-school–related activity, traffic, or missed bus.

Release of Students during the Day— Ravensworth ES will excuse a student during the day for valid reasons. Please send a written request to the teacher when your child must leave early. Parents or guardians must come to the school office with valid ID to pick up and sign out their child. Ravensworth ES will not allow a student to walk home alone during the school day, nor will we release your child to anyone other than a parent or guardian without a written request signed by the enrolling parent or guardian.
